Comic #113: Phantom - The Challenge of Cannibals

Tuesday, March 21, 2006 Share: Digg Technorati Delicious StumbleUpon Facebook

Unscheduled pit stop. TCP hit the 50k mark. Yes 50,000. Fifty thousand :-) It doesn't feel as big as 10,000, don't know why, but still it is an important milestone in the history of TCP. So it is on record. Details on time and location later.

#50000 was at 9:04:37 PM, but the visitor stayed exactly for ZERO seconds :-) ISP: Southern Online Services - Hyderabad.

In celebration, read this mini comic (15 pages only). I recollect reading another version, with the rope people and Phantom fighting the giant, beating him and saying something like "The bigger they are, the harder they fall" :-)

Also check out this article: The Tendulkar Redemption

Bloghopping:

Check out the latest on http://theinventorofgames.blogspot.com. I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes. Warning: Go there with the brains of a 6 year old and feel free to shout me down if you don't like what you see :-) TCP Guarantee!!!

Check this one out. It's about a men's locker room - by Fierysinews. TCP Guarantee again :-)

And this is the "1" of the "2, 1, 0" countdown. The first I have been talking about will come up very soon.

Sorry guys, was a bit busy these days to visit the blog. I come here today & find a lot of comics posted.
Congrats TCP for thr 50k landmark. Way to go.

Me & obi go hand in hand it seems. If he is 5th, I'm sixth (technically)

I posted the previous comment even before reading the blog or the comics to claim my place :).

Now comes the real comment:) I have also read another version of the same story. It had better pictures.. (not that these are bad..)

Congratulations on the 50K milestone, TCP!

And may 'the Ghost' be with you! :)

@cloudy: you are 3rd aren't you? motku then chackochen??
@chackochen: The last 60-70 comics have been uploaded, check the links on the right. All of them will come up soon.
@universal speck, sunshine, obi wan: bad counting due to cloudy
@obi and horizon and sunshine: thanks

tcp: No, our counting is right. Since chackochen didn't say out his position, his comment is not a part of the race :-)

If memory serves right, this theme of the Phantom proving himself (to the rope people) and fighting the forest giant features again in the Indrajal print "Abode of the Ghosts" -- the story about how the tree house is built.

The 21st Phantom remarks in that tale that it was his grandfather who performed all the amazing feats.

@tcp: finally decided to chip in with a comment

cheers.

TCP, looks like the stage is set for Tendulkar's redemption chance..need 313 to win, on a spinny pitch and one wicket down..I'll sign your petition to drop him if he fails here! :-)

Congrats TCP on the 50k mark!

And all, Please stop on banging on getting/forcing Tendulkar out!!!!

More to follow on this...................

HaHaHa TCP! Time you learnt the rules of counting on your own blog! :-)

The Comic Project said...

@obi wan: your counting specifications are weird. I didnt realize tht there was such a thing as ANNOUNCING
@csrins: thanks .. would love to read the bigger comic
@tull: I hope he makes it man because that is one man whose obit i dont want to see
@indianmalang: He is flopping mate..look at his scores and more importantly how he bats. it is sad to see him out there
@cloudy: just realised grrr

Indianmalang said...

@TCP - Come on man! Have patience!
He has given the world 16 years, you can't give him one!
What is that!!!!!!!!!

The Comic Project said...

@Indianmalang: Haven't we been patient long enough? 16 years great cricket I know. That's why. Thank you and please po i say. Maybe he will come back in 2 months and score 2 centuries, maybe they will be against Bangladesh or Zimbabwe or maybe against the Windies (who look and play like Kenya anyway - oops racist comment). But after 2 centuries, if he flops for 10 more innings (which has been the case in the last 30 or 35 innings, aren't we giving him - as they say in Bombay - too much "Dheel"?

Maybe the West Indies tour should be the last for him in tests, but maybe not.

He's got to po.

Nice blog. I grew up on these comics too. Brings up a host of memories esp of summer vacations spent reading stack of Phantom, Mandrake and other comics.

Came across this very interesting blog - The Comic Project. Its great. Brings back many fond memories. BUT I still read Phantom (aged 31) - I go straight to the comics section whenever I visit a magazine shop!

I had hundreds of old Phantom, Tarzan, Mandrake comics when I was a kid. Some of them were 'inherited' from my paternal uncle and I kept them like a treasure for so many years but somehow lost a lot them when we moved.

Wish I still had them!

Anyways - keep bloggin!
