Ah, some of the regulars reappear just as they vanished. Welcome back.
I know it is the end of the day here in India but there are a few more hours to go in other parts of the world. Today was the day when Gandhiji was assassinated. He is a favourite punching bag for many, and we can question his decisions and his actions all we like. But his conviction is beyond doubt, his self-belief beyond compare and his ability to stay the course has never been displayed by anyone after him.
Also want to take the opportunity to wish Motku on his Happy Birthday. And Motku, some fantastic work in Q3 of 2005. Congratulations on your award.
Location: Wamba Falls Inn
Time: Some time after 9
It all begins when 2 gold miners, Pete and Ike, after a lot of digging for many many days, find a lot of gold and check into the hotel. They take a shower, have a sumptuous dinner and a merry drink, and retire to their rooms for a good night's sleep. In the morning, Ike is missing. His partner, Pete, approaches the Jungle Patrol for help. While the Jungle Patrol colonel tries to think how to solve this case, he gets a note which says "CO. JP., Send patrolman disguised as miner to investigate Wamba Inn. Commander, JP."
What happened to Ike? Will Patrolman Smythe find anything at Wamba Falls Inn? And who is this Commander??
Read on. This story is in Hindi. The English version was posted on 26-Apr-05.
P.S: I think Gandhiji, as a person, as a concept, grows on you as you grow older.

Long Live Gandhi-ji! I cannot agree more with you about his beliefs and vision.
This is also one of the more memorable Phantom story. I can't agree with you, TCP that Gandhiji is one of the most truly influential leader of all time across the world. Only Abraham Lincoln as far as my history goes compares to him in terms of conviction of beliefs. But having said that I have a lot of respect for a whole lot of individuals who have selflessly taken a stand against wrongdoing of all kinds. I would like to end stating for every detractor to Gandhi I can find you ten who admire him. In fact you can never compare the people of that era by our yardstick - all of them had ideals which can be scarcely even imagined today! Ok one more thing TCP - either you have a rare comic or it is a freak publishing error. But did you notice that the "Cold Fire Worshippers" Cover that Phantom is spelt "Phanom".
Has Obi-wan & Tull stopped competing?
Of course I am still in competition. I just wanted to give you lesser mortals the pleasure of a 1st post once in a while types :-)
wrt Gandhiji, the influence of the movie 'Gandhi'that I watched 7-8 times when I was a kid, and the collective folklore, has ensured that I haven't lost my respect for him, and his unique methods of protest, even when a lot of our fellow-countrymen take great pleasure in panning him!
@indianmalang: Congrats again. Hmm I wonder if there is some way of keeping score.
@anon #1: Reveal yourself. Or else!!!
@vamsee: I am gradually making the transition from Gandhi, to a M.K Gandhi and then to Gandhiji. The jump to Mahatma Gandhi is a bit too much for me right now.
@oldmanmozz: Didnt notice that screwup :-) People like Gandhiji are not just a product of their own convictions, but also a product of the era they were born in. Each era bestows certain people with certain characterisitics which elevates them to the top of their league. Our generation/era has precisely the kind of people it needs. Consumerism creating consumers and consumers creating even more consumerism. Chicken and Egg.
@obiwan: Not fair ok? Ek to you lose, then you make excuse. Not allowed :-) Like I said, I have moved from disrespect to grudging respect over the last few years. It is a sign of growing older than acquisition of additional intelligence.
Motku is a distinctly bengali nick name - not in the least complimentary! Wonder who this person is...
Practiced my hindi on this comic
Tull is here! I'm still trying to figure out TCP's circadian rhythm, to catch the first sight, so to speak! :-)
Re: Gandhi, I used to think that what he did was possible in his era, not in ours. Also, because there was one goal: get our Independence. Then I read a book called Bapu Kuti, by Rajni Bakshi. Anyone here read it? It's a very nice book, that made me rethink about Gandhi not being possible now :-) Some of the people on that book, like Baba Amte and Aruna Roy (of Right to Information fame), have do some amazing things in our era!
TCP and others: I highly recommend that book.
Now, back to my calculations on TCP's circadian rhythm. So far, none of the equations fit, surely, some strange "creature" ;-)
I hope that there is no pattern of TCP's postings! Second, with regards to Obiwone - all I can say is 'Angoor Khatay Hay"! You can't post first, you say, you give opportunity to others - ya right!! :-)
Well, waiting for another phantom comic! See you all then!

@TCP
You need to be more specific. Gandhiji represents many facets. Which one are you talking about and why does it grow on you
The Pakis screwed us up in the last test. Hope we do better in the ODIs.
