The comic project has always been about having a little fun, with a few words expressing TCP's opinion on some things that happen around him (yes TCP is male in case you didn't guess). Went to gauravsabnis.blogspot.com via a link and what I read there made me think. What I thought I won't tell :-)
Apparently, JAM magazine highlighted some false claims made by IIPM - a management institute and Gaurav (who I don't know at all) posted a link to that on his blog. Gaurav got served a legal notice by IIPM (notarized email - it's the first time I have heard of this) asking him to delete any comments about IIPM. Thought No 1: How ridiculous? What is a notarized email?
His employer, IBM, was called and threatened that they ask Gaurav to delete the "defamatory" comments and if Gaurav did not remove the post, IIPM students would burn their IBM/Lenovo laptops in public (leading, of course, to some very bad press for IBM). Thought No 2: Khaane ko paisa nahi hai logo ke paas, aur yeh gadhe chale laptop jalaane. What is it that they are trying to do? MBA Liberation Movement? Someone tell them that bras are cheaper, lot cheaper than laptops!!!
IBM did NOT ask Gaurav to delete the post, which was purely his personal opinion on a topic. Instead it asked him if he will maintain his stance irrespective of IIPMs position (laptop burning). Thought No 3: How much time would it have taken an Indian company to buckle? But if I have to be cynical, yeah - smart pressure tactic chIBM - chinese IBM, but doesn't matter.
Now here comes the knockout punch. Gaurav did not want to remove the post, nor give his company any bad press. So what does he do??? He resigns. Thought No 4: Is he crazy? Baap ke paas bahut paisa hai? Major jack hai kidhar to!!! 100%!!! Peeche rone wala koi nahi hai!!
TCP does not care about IIPM or IIM or its reputation because TCP only cares about comics. I read up on this issue and don't want to take sides because I know very little. But one thing will remain in my mind for some time to come. It's the knockout punch that still has me on the mat - Gaurav's resignation.
Gaurav, even if you were a minister's son or had 3 jobs in the pocket, what you did needs guts. And character. Brave decision.
Visit http://gauravsabnis.blogspot.com/
TCP will dedicate a comic to Gaurav very soon.

Yes indeed. I know Gaurav personally but did not know of this rather brave decision he has taken. Any media coverage to this issue would be a step in the right direction.

Gaurav has shown the strength and character of the Ghost Who Walks, kudos to him! Also noteworthy is IBM's attitude, very mature!
Can laptops burn??
A gutsy Fella. Hats off 2 u Gaurav.
How do i open th cbr file..
may the good sign of the phantom be with gaurav.
well he is IIM. I think he can get a job any day he wishes to. Still a very gutsy and confident step that shows high character and high moral standards. I am also amazed by the stand taken by IBM. Very very commendable. As far as IIPM is concerned....let me not say anything and leave the choicest words to imagination.
Gutsy Gaurav! Packs a Punch!
Yeah, he will get a job eventually...what I admire that he has leadership qualities....one who stands tall with his decisions during rough tides.
btw IIPM not bothered about the source - JAMMAG...but instead running after the links?
Until next time,
Ameya.
Gosh!! you really must be a great comic lover to have an entire blog dedicated to such comics.
Good one here, but not my interest. And yes, thanks for dropping in at my blog.
